Wedding and Event FAQ

What makes us better than most?
We treat all people with honesty, integrity and respect with a mature and caring attitude. Were good at listening to the clients needs. We have great people skills and eleven years experience with creating artistic and unique professional images. We are able to uniquely blend photojournalism and classical portraiture without being in your face. We have a solid understanding of light and using it from natural and artificial sources. We also have full liability coverage as a full time professional studio. We may not always be the best fit or choice for some people, but will always do our best to satisfy the clients we serve.

What do we consider the most important part of an Event?
First, that the end result gives people the type of images they asked for in a sincere caring way. I define events as Weddings, Bar or Bat Mitzvah or Large family parties or special event.

What are obstacles quality photographers face doing event work?
Getting the job for this reason. Professionals photographers now face a real challenge with being compared to a flood of amateur weekend photographers that are most often inexperienced in what they are doing with very little understanding of lighting, posing or composition and often less of post event image preparation and color management for professional images. Select a photographer based on end results.

Why are there no prices on the site for event photography?
I had my prices posted for viewing and even download for years, after perusing web sites of my competitors that I felt did quality work I saw the majority of those competitors had no prices listed. I thought they must have a reason. I believe that reason was that if people are going to really compare apples to apples or in this case photographers they need to contact those that spark an interest and see what they do in person whenever possible. In reality web sites can only show so much. After eleven years of doing over two hundred major events I feel I have the portfolio and experience that speaks for itself. If people want a general range of my event fees I ask a lot of questions regarding that persons needs. When I understand people’s needs I can better offer something that may fit those needs. I will be happy to answer any questions and send anyone my fee structure.

What are your policies for events?

Portrait FAQ

What is a typical portrait session?
Generally speaking portraits in the studio are approached very different from location portraits. Studio work is usually with one or more people from one family. A series of shots are done with several poses based on the clients wish for close or full length. Most often canvas backgrounds are used behind the subjects and close or tight shots are done. Studio sessions usually are twenty to forty minutes long. Location sessions are often more relaxed for large groups and small children and reflective of the individual personalities as I feel my personal favorites show people in their own home or an environment they can relate to such as a park or beautiful outdoor venue.

For all sessions: A few days after the shoot we set up an online gallery of images from the session. The online images are watermarked and referenced with JPEG numbers for ordering. Clients are given a web link to review the images then call or email us their order; we do basic retouch and color correction on images as needed. Most print orders usually are done seven days from order.

What about clothing?
Keep it simple and coordinated when possible, especially in shirts or tops. Clothing in portraiture should not draw attention away from the subject, which in most cases is a face. There are exceptions for all rules but generally this is a good rule to follow. Comfortable clothing is key because if you feel great you often look great and vice versa.

What about portrait image use?
We retain the rights to forever use any photographic image we created for publication and display. Clients may not copy or reproduce any portrait images created by us in any way without our written permission. Usage rights are granted for a fee in some situations where images are used for press release.

"Franklin - Scott and I are so thankful that we found you! From the first meeting, we knew we found the perfect photographer, however, what we didn't know is that we had found more than just a photographer, we found a friend who was taking our photos. Our wedding album speaks for itself, everyone who sees it is amazed, and it captures all the little special moments throughout our special day. It doesn't even need any narration, it is a true storybook of our day. There are no words to thank you enough for the memories you captured for us. No matter how beautiful the flowers or the dresses are, without a photographer like you, there would be no way to truly visualize how special the day was. Thanks again for truly capturing every moment with a creative twist."
